Seahawks need to catch another receiver
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Coach Mike Holmgren said he will meet with the Seahawks front office for what is a standard weekly run down of personnel. That meeting is a regular occurrence, but this one will be more pressing considering the dearth of healthy receivers on Seattle's roster.
"Those will be the topics of conversation," Holmgren said. "I think Bumpus is certainly a candidate, but this -- because it's drastic what's going on -- we have to explore other options as well."
Joe Horn is probably the top veteran receiver available on the market after he asked for -- and was granted -- his release from Atlanta. Horn's agent, Ralph Vitolo, said on Monday afternoon he has not spoken to the Seahawks since last week.
Vitolo said he expects Horn to be signed early this week.
Another veteran receiver out there -- one who has familiarity with the Seahawks system -- is Koren Robinson, who is not with a team right now. Robinson was released after he was arrested for DUI in Washington so the Seahawks may not consider him a candidate to re-join the team even though his knowledge and understanding of the offense might make him the best short-term fix.
Alvin Keels, Robinson's agent, said Monday he had not heard from the Seahawks yet.
