Lofa Tatupu's practice participation accelerates
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Wide receiver Deion Branch still isn't participating in the 11-on-11 portion of practice, but linebacker Lofa Tatupu's practice participation increased, something defensive coordinator John Marshall said was planned.
"He's coming along," Marshall said of Tatupu. "With each day he’s going to get better and better. We just asked him not to push it, substituted for him and gave him limited reps, but that was all planned."
When the Seahawks substituted Tatupu out, he was replaced by D.D. Lewis who is back with the Seahawks after a hiatus. His familiarity with the Seahawks defense has cushioned the loss of experienced reserve linebackers Niko Koutouvides and Kevin Bentley, who left as free agents over the offseason.
"Plug him in anywhere," Marshall said of Lewis. "He's smart, he takes right over. He commands the huddle and commands all the calls."
And without further ado, here's Thursday's practice report.
