Up close and personnel -- The Buffalo Bills
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Buffalo is still without left tackle Justin Peters, who held out of training camp and did not report for the team's first full-squad practice on Sunday. Peters is seeking a new contract, and according to the Buffalo News, the two sides haven't spoken since January.
"His absence wasn’t so much a surprise as it was confirmation that their regular season will begin without him."
-- Buffalo News, Sept. 1, 2008
If you want to read more of the particulars on Peters' situation, here's a link to the Buffalo News story right here and a story on the team's Web site right here.
With Peters absent, Langston Walker is playing left tackle, Kirk Chambers is at right tackle. The Bills were pretty good in pass protection a year ago, allowing 26 sacks -- fewer than 21 other teams in the league. Lacking that edge protector will present problems.
In injury news, the team's Web site reported Bills coach Dick Jauron hopes to have tight end Derek Schouman available for the opener. Schouman is recovering from a knee injury. Without him, Robert Royal has been the Bills' only healthy tight end.
