Surgery for DT Red Bryant
Posted by Jose Romero
That's what coach Mike Holmgren announced this morning in an interview on KJR-AM. Bryant, the rookie fourth-round pick from Texas A&M, will miss four or five weeks, Holmgren added.
Bryant underwent tests Thursday to determine the severity of an injury to his left knee after missing practice Thursday. Holmgren said Bryant has cartilage damage but was not specific.
Bryant's loss is critical because the Seahawks are already without their other big and tall body in the middle of the defensive line, Marcus Tubbs, at least for the time being. The timing of the injury for Bryant means he could be ready to play by the first week of the regular season, but will miss invaluable time in exhibition games.
Holmgren also updated the injury and rehabilitation status of some other players. C Chris Spencer and Tubbs are expected to be able to practice next week, Spencer perhaps on Monday. C-G Chris Gray has gone home to Alabama for a few days but is also expected to be able to practice Monday. P Ryan Plackemeier could start punting next week.

I think that with the news of WR Terry Glenn and FS John Lynch someone has to ask the question of is Seattle serious about contending in Holmgren's last year as coach do we really want to send him out the right way? If so we seem to have a inexperienced WR Core and we all know Glenn can come here and be a major contributor are the Seahawks checking into this at all? FS yes we signed Russell and Grant but believe me when I say Lynch is a upgrade I believe Lynch and Grant is better than Russell and Grant. If Seattle is trying to seriously win we need to try to sign both of these top notch veterans Glenn could bring experience to a position that needs healthy mentors for the younger guy's also signing him would help Seattle on special teams by allowing Burleson to concentrate more on Kick Off and Punt returns. Lynch brings a feared brutal force to a finesse secondary, don't get me wrong our secondary is skilled and special but no one is scaring anyone with hard hits.

Lucky, that would have been a nice idea five years ago, but you forget that those two can't play anymore. And since when has Glenn been considered a mentor for younger players? I think Bill Parcells would beg to differ.

Lucky-
I'm sorry but you're dead wrong...like previous poster just stated, this might have been a good idea 5 years ago, but last I checked we have 2 suitable safeties already and Terry Glenn is injured. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't even be able to pass his physical, much less be a mentor to the younger players. So, as much as you like to think you're smarter than the Hawks front office, you're not...just remember how well Ruskell and Co. have performed in recent years. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show! I'm sure we'll be in the postseason again in due time...

Maybe if Tubbs can stay heath for a game and half, this year, Bryant might be back in form for Hawks? I think Tubbs can sustain a injury going through the chow line. He shouldn't be allowed to eat chicken, Mcnuggets maybe....no bones!
