Seahawks release three players

Posted by Danny O'Neil

The team announced Friday afternoon it released guard Dustin Dickinson, receiver Chas Gessner and center Nick Jones.

All three were signed as free agents earlier this year. None ever played in a game for the Seahawks.

Guess they didn't show enough in mini-camp to even make it worth evaluating them further in Training Camp. Is this clearing roster space in advance to sign some draft choices soon (eg.Tyler Schmidt) or could it be a signal that Ruskell is about to dip into the free agent market for some veteran depth on the line or at receiver? Any word on any free agent visits planned?

Today's spots page (Sunday)was interesting, in case you haven't read it, it's about sweaty Seahawks and the people who wash their clothes, and losing their lunch doing so! Fourteen hour days, that's alot of hours....hope they get paid by the stink, not the hour. We need a football game!!!!!

Is it true we haven't signed any other draft choices? Is that an area for concern? Or, is it just early in the process?

Most of them won't get signed until right before camp. I think only a few of the top draft picks have signed contracts at this point.

uh not a big deal? Most of our draft picks are holding out, not practicing and actively not signing with the hawks. YES IT IS A BIG DEAL

No they aren't! Who is holding out? And "actively not signing with the Hawks". That is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. The rooks have no leverage to do that sort of thing. Where are you getting your information from?

Has anybody heard about Gessner getting another DUI just prior to being released by the Seahawks? I understand he may be facing some jail time.
