Indy's Super Bowl secret? A roof.
Posted by Danny O'Neil
The 2012 Super Bowl will be played in Indianapolis. That's not a shock. Indianpolis barely lost to Dallas as the site of the 2011 Super Bowl, the final vote 17-15.
Well, Indianapolis isn't exactly a garden spot in February when the game is played. So one day it could come to Seattle, right? Well, only if the Seahawks buy a bunch of big, blue tarps or figure some other way to turn Qwest Field into a dome.
The league's policy is that if the average temperature of the area is below 50 degrees, the site needs to be a dome. Three Super Bowls have been played in Northern cities: 1982 in Pontiac, Mich., 1992 in Minneapolis and 2006 when a certain local team played the Steelers in Detroit. Seattle applied to host the 1992 game that was later awarded to Minneapolis.

I think that rule is unfortunate as even the Ice Bowl seemed cool. And how cool is it to see playoff games in the snow at Green Bay and Chicago. It probably won't be snowing in February in Seattle, pretty much all teams should be eligible for the Super Bowl. Heck, it's football!!!

I think every NFL city should get to host a superbowl... Every 32 years your city hostes it.

I feel that it would be a better experience for fans to have the Super Bowl in Seattle because we don't have a cover over the top of our stadium that way you can experience the game the way it is intended in all of the elements. Back in the day stadiums didn't have covers and you didn't hear anybody whining about it then. If everyone would get off of their high horses and stop letting little things like rain or possibly snow and a little cold weather get to their comfy little cell phone rotted brains the game could be played in one of the most beautiful, extremely loud, exciting stadiums in the world. I for one would rather see the Super Bowl in the natural elements and see a team take on those elements and show what they are really made of then in a warm stadium or dome that has nothing to offer but a dry, weather abandoned atmosphere that has absolutely nothing to offer a true football fan who enjoys eating a hamburger and fries with a little bit of rain on them. That's what makes football, well football the fans, the team, and the weather.

I agree with Josh D. every 32 years every team should get the Bowl. If Seattle ever gets the Bowl it will be funny because the Dumps on Aurora Way are gonna be getting like 500 bucks a night to stay at some dump!! Nothing screams Super Bowl experience more than some 40dollar hooker walking back and forth in front of your telly...I guess Eugene Robinson would be up for it though!!

You would think another dome would have been the way to go in seattle after the kingdome, but then again quest field is awesome so guess its a give and take.
