A sad state of affairs for Washington colleges

No player from either Washington or Washington State is expected to be chosen in the first three rounds of the draft, which would make it the second time in the past three seasons that happened. That happened only once from 1995 to 2005, and that was 2000.
There is even the expectation that Shane Simmons [Ed. note: Post mistakenly referred to him as Sean. Danny has been duly punished for the typographical transgression], a linebacker from Western Washington will be the first player from a college in this state to be chosen in the draft. He's expected to be chosen in the later rounds of the draft.
No player from Washington nor Washington State has been chosen in the first two rounds of the draft since Khalif Barnes, Washington tackle was taken in 2005. Here's a year-by-year accounting of how many Cougars and Huskies were chosen in the first three rounds of the past 13 drafts:
