Niko Koutouvides to Denver
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Linebacker Niko Koutouvides is heading to Denver, according to the NFL's official Web site. Adam Schefter of the NFL Network reports Koutouvides agreed to a multi-year contract with the Broncos.
[Update, 10:12 a.m.]: Koutouvides' agent just confirmed he agreed to terms with Denver. No terms, but it is a multi-year deal.
Koutouvides' departure follows Kevin Bentley, another backup linebacker and special-teams standout who agreed to terms with Houston on Sunday.
Their departures have as much to do with opportunity as anything. With Leroy Hill, Lofa Tatupu and Julian Peterson, the Seahawks have one of the best linebacker trios in the league. Bentley and Koutouvides are backups in Seattle, but considered starting-caliber elsewhere in the league.
