The annual game of tag
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Happens every year about this time as teams apply the franchise tag as a protection against someone who just might slip away in unrestricted free agency.
Marcus Trufant was the player the Seahawks designated. Safety Ken Hamlin was tagged by the Dallas Cowboys (story from Dallas Morning News is linked here). In all, 12 players received the franchise tag and one received the transition tag Seattle discovered can be oh-so dangerous two years ago with Steve Hutchinson. That's almost double last year's total when seven players were designated with the franchise tag.
