Girls state soccer rankings -- week 7
Posted by Joshua Mayers
South end soccer fans are gonna like what they see this week. The top two Class 4A teams are from the South Puget Sound League (No. 1 Beamer and No. 2 Kentwood) and the new king of the Class 3A is from the Seamount League (No. 1 Kennedy).
The weekly drama that is KingCo 4A soccer brought us an upset in the 4A ranks with Issaquah's over Eastlake -- maybe a slight upset. But then the Eagles tied Ballard, which kept them out of the top 10. Woodinville ties Skyline to maintain a spot at No. 10.
Stadium over Gig Harbor and Mead over Lewis & Clark were among the big wins from last week. Lake Stevens drops out of the top 10 with a loss to Snohomish and is replaced by fellow WesCo power Jackson, which had a pretty flawless week.
In Class 3A, Lakeside lost 1-0 to Bainbridge for the Lions' first loss of the year. The defending Metro champs only fall to No. 3, however, because I feel they had a little breathing room over some of the other contenders.
The big jumper this week was Union down in Camas. The Titans are now No. 2 in Class 3A and remain unbeaten in a tough GSHL. Union had two huge shutout wins over ranked teams in Camas and Columbia River.
Anyways, enough rambling. Let me know what you think as I'm always open to other -- probably more educated -- opinions.
