Girls state soccer rankings -- week 5
Posted by Joshua Mayers
Here we are about halfway through the regular season and the top teams are really starting to identify themselves. Though we did have a pretty big upset in the 4A ranks with No. 2 Bellarmine Prep going down to South Kitsap 1-0.
Beamer and Stadium rolled this week. Mead had a big 2-1 win over Gonzaga Prep, but I didn't drop the Bullpups far. Eastlake and Kentwood (nice win over Auburn Riverside) move up with good weeks.
Southridge is the newest entry in the rankings, which appears to be the top team in a loaded Big Nine. Pasco, Richland and Kamiakin make that a very tough league.
Woodinville also jumps back in at No. 10 as Issaquah's tie with Redmond shook up the KingCo league. Both ranked WesCo teams lost to 3A teams, and in a tough call Lake Stevens stays in and Jackson goes back to the bubble.
In the 3A ranks, the top three teams rolled with a combined score this week of 34-0. Kennedy proved it is still the Seamount power with a 4-0 win over Lindbergh (which dropped from No. 4 to No. 9). Everett and Meadowdale each had afore mentioned wins over ranked 4A teams, so they move up.
Bonney Lake continued to impress in a perfect season so far. The new entries are North Mason (which had a huge win over Olympic across the water) and Columbia River.
As always, let me know what you think! I'm remarkably persuadable.
UPDATE: I mistakenly ranked North Mason earlier, a 2A team, so that change has been made.
