Week 2 football rankings
Posted by Tom Wyrwich
I'd like to consider these our first rankings of the season because these are the first that are based on the games, not on preconceived notions about teams. After shutting out the defending 6A champ in Oregon, Skyline takes the top spot in 4A, and Bellevue's blowout in week one makes the Wolverines the No. 1 in 3A.
After that, you'll see many teams you didn't in the preseason rankings. Issaquah looked like an absolute contender against Bothell, and they're at fourth in 4A. Auburn, Kentwood, Rogers of Puyallup and Lake Stevens all won impressive games in the first week, and they're ranked now. There are so many other good teams in 4A -- Moses Lake, Puyallup, Gonzaga Prep, Mead, Inglemoor -- it was hard to choose who to include and who to keep out. But the games will eventually work most of that out.
Ferndale is at No. 2 in Class 3A after a 47-8 win against Bellingham, and Meadowdale is at third after beating Edmonds-Woodway, a Class 4A semifinalist last season. And Union, which beat 4A Skyview 24-3 last weekend, is at sixth and has a chance against Evergreen of Vancouver this week to show it belongs there.
Class 4A
1. Skyline (Sammamish) (1-0)

Class 3A
