Oregon Basketball Star Held Off Boys Team
Posted by Zach Landres-Schnur
In case you missed this the other day, interesting story out of Beaverton, Ore. where 6-foot-1 12-year-old Jaime Nared is being held off the boys team because, well, she's too good!
She's so good, Michael Abraham said, she makes the boys look like scrubs. So she has been told she can no longer play on boys teams at The Hoop, a private Beaverton basketball facility that runs a league in which Abraham's teams compete.
Rough.
Her older sister is a Maryland recruit and her father played there as well. The Terps are a perennial NCAA Championship contender. As one of the best sixth-graders in the country (that's a weird sentence. Sixth-grader!), she's thought to already be a college recruit.
Keep Nared on your radar. She'll be one of the better players to come out of the Northwest...in like six years!
