New KingCo alignment
Posted by Tom Wyrwich
The KingCo principals today approved a new alignment for the conference, which had several schools change classifications and will lose Franklin to the Metro League next fall.
The new alignment has different divisions for team sports (football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, fastpitch and baseball) and individual sports (golf, swimming/diving, tennis, cross-country, track, gymnastics and wrestling). Team sports have three divisions (two 4A divisions and a 2A/3A division) and individual sports will have four combined classification divisions.
The new alignment is listed below. We'll have more in tomorrow's Times.

i dont get why bellevue is still in three a, they should move up, or we won't see a game between bellevue and it's division within 30 points

Bellevue boosters don't pay all that money for close games so this will work out.

I don't understand the names for the individual sports divisions. South and East seem strange when Liberty High (East) is further south than Issaquah (Issaquah)in true location.

It's nice to see from a team sport from a Redmond standpoint that we are back in a division with what should be our 2 biggest natural rivals Eastlake and Skyline.
Would have loved to see Garfield and Newport go to the Crown division and Woodinville and Lake Washington come to the Crest division thus forming a true eastside suburban division. Then we would have kids competing against each other from 5th grade select forward. Talk about the rivalries that would form long term!
