In a story this morning, Franklin coach Jason Kerr talked about the scary sight that is
Renard Sidney for any opposing coach. Tomorrow, Kerr will see Sidney in person when Franklin plays Fairfax, Calif., in the King Holiday Hoopfest.
That game is at 4 p.m., one of seven games Monday at UW's Hec Edmundson Pavilion. Yet what many people -- and, I should add, college coaches -- will be coming to see is just how good Sidney is.
So I've put together a batch of links relating to all things Sidney to help get you prepared.
-This story from Sports Illustrated -- not exactly known as a gossip rag -- suggests that right now, Sidney could be the top pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. It also details Sidney's many moves to this point.
-On Friday night, Sidney set a career high -- I usually don't use that term for high-schoolers, but with Sidney, it's probably closer to the truth -- with 36 points an 19 rebounds, according to the Los Angeles Times.
-The New York Times took a look at Sidney last August, marveling at his abilities but also questioning whether he tried too hard to live up to his burgeoning reputation.
-Sidney is No. 21 in this video compilation of highlights from his sophomore year at California's Artesia High School. Some impressive stuff.
-The Washington Post wrote this story about Sidney more than a year and a half ago.
-By the way, that Franklin team Sidney will play Monday ain't too shabby, either. If you need a refresher, remember this game against Rainier Beach. The Quakers also have a highly-touted junior in guard Peyton Siva, a Morning Stars regular. And in this story by the Louisville Courier-Journal, Siva talks about Louisville and says he expects Rick Pitino to be at the game tomorrow.
Check back throughout Monday for updates from the Classic. We'll have game updates, and hopefully, I'll be able to work in a few stories, too.

Note to Peyton Siva: stay in the Pac-10, preferably at either UW or WSU.
