Get ready to fork over the big bills for Vancouver 2010 hotels

Posted by Ron Judd

We've seen lots of discussion here about strategies for securing hotel rooms for the 2010 Games. Our recent news story covered the subject well.

Today comes another piece from north of the border with some sample rates for hotels not part of the official Olympic secured allotment. The prices are predictably high -- $300 to $900 a night for hotels that normally sell for one-third to one-fourth that amount.

A further note on visting the Games: A number of readers of this site have passed along letters emailed to them from CoSport, the Games sole ticket agent for the U.S., explaining that the company had located computer files of orders that were nixed at the last minute by the Web site's credit-card processing, and asking if they still want the tickets. The company, which has offered no public explanation of why its second-phase ticket sales were such a disaster or what they're doing about it, clearly is attempting to make good on at least some of the ticket orders. Your mileage may vary.

I booked a room from a US company; full service package with transfers, etc. The Olympics are an expensive experience, but they're worth it!  Posted on March 3, 2009 at 2:38 PM by Bone Dawg. Jump to comment
Has anyone actually booked a hotel yet? I have been looking and looking, and they all say that they are not booking yet. Any help would be...  Posted on February 21, 2009 at 9:27 AM by OSH. Jump to comment
