Vice president Joe Biden's flu gaffe

Posted by Letters editor

Analysis not so great, either

Editor, The Times:

Vice President Biden "pulled a doozy" Thursday by saying he was "urging his family to stay off commercial airliners and out of subways for fear of catching the swine flu" ["Biden's flu gaffe a headache for Obama," News, May 1].

Shouldn't we also look at political scientist Larry Gerston's metaphor regarding the "difficulty the White House has keeping Biden on the reservation"? I'm sure Native Americans nationwide appreciate that sorry reminder of their history. And then comes political scientist Sherry Bebitch Jeffe's "he shoots from the hip. He always has."

The entire analysis was a gaffe-ing matter! Geez.
