M's do some housekeeping
Posted by Geoff Baker
The Mariners just cut 10 more players this afternoon, none of them rating much on the surprise meter. On the disappointment scale, lefty pitcher Justin Thomas rates as one of the highest. The M's privately hoped Thomas might compete for a bullpen job, given the shortage of lefties right now. But Thomas flamed out in his mound appearances and wound up being one of two players optioned to Class AAA Tacoma. Here's the list:
Optioned to Class AAA:
Thomas
RHP Luis Pena
Optioned to Class AA
RHP Stephen Kahn
RHP Marwin Vega
Re-Assigned to Minor League Camp:
RHP Eric Hull
RHP Luis Munoz
RHP Denny Stark
LHP Chris Seddon
OF Freddy Guzman
OF Prentice Redman
The team now has 50 players in camp, 36 of them on the 40-man roster.
