Lots of Hernandezes in this game! Hi, Larry Stone here at Safeco. Just to amplify on the roster moves, as Geoff mentioned R.A. Dickey went down to Tacoma to make room for the activation of Putz. The poor guy has been on a real roller coaster. He was devastated to be sent down two days before Opening Day, then ecstatic to make his first start in two years against the Angels. Today was...I wouldn't say devastation, but clearly extreme disappointment. He said the hardest part was that his family had flown in to spend the homestand with him, and now Tacoma is leaving on a road trip to Tucson. The Mariners are letting him stay back in the Seattle area with his family until his turn to start, which probably will be during the weekend.
"It's been tough,'' he said. "I'm thankful I'm a little older. I'm able to deal with it.''
Speaking of Tacoma, just had a chance to talk to Adam Jones. The Orioles arrived in Seattle on Monday early enough that Jones went down to Tacoma to see old friends like Matt Tuiasosopo and Charlton Jimerson (the game was rained out). Jones said he doesn't expect tonight to be too emotional because he didn't play long enough up here with the Mariners for the fans to form a real bond with him.
"It's not really as touchy-feely or emotional as it shoud be,'' he said.
Sherrill, on the other hand, said that he is indeed having some emotional tugs. Someone asked him if noted practical joker J.J. Putz had given him a special welcome.
"No, he didn't pee in my shoes or anything. That's good,'' Sherrill said with a laugh. "I'm glad he's back off the DL. Good luck to him. Hopefully, he does well, except in this series.''
Bedard will indeed start Saturday. He threw a 45-pitch bullpen session today that went very well, apparently. McLaren said, however, they want him to throw another bullpen session on Thursday before his Saturday start against Oakland. This gives them a chance to restructure the rotation a bit. Washburn will pitch Thursday against Baltimore, and Batista Friday against Oakland. That splits up the two left-handers, Washburn and Bedard.

Hilarious, but par for the course. When Jones had a bad intrasquad game during spring training, he made the excuse that it was hard for him to get motivated to go play against his teammates. Yes, the teammates that he just met about a week earlier. I guess some bonds form faster than others. Or maybe he was misquoted. LOL

Larry do you ever want to ask McLaren this question...
"HOW LONG DO YOU INTEND TO TROD OUT SUB .200 HITTERS LIKE VIDRO, JOHJIMA and WILKERSON? OH YEAH, I FORGOT..FOREVER. CAUSE THEY'VE BEEN THROUGH THE WARS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!"

Why do they care whether they lose Baek or not. He hasn't shown that much this year? Who would want Baek? Clement was 0-4 and Matt T was 3-4 today. Not sure Clement is the answer-unless average doesn't continue to drop.

What does Dickey have to do to keep the job? Between Dickey's family comeing and cutting Jimerson when he was so excited to wear #42, I'd say to never let the M's know that you have plans or are excited for something. They'll cut you!

Whoops I hit the wrong button.
What I meant to say was that you're grasping at straws just so you can bash Adam Jones at any opportunity.
I fail to see how Jones saying he hadn't played here long enough for the FANS to bond with HIM, has anything to do with him saying he couldn't get motivated playing against teammates. Many of those teammates being minor leaguers who had played with at every level. He didn't "just meet them 7 weeks before. Some he just met. Many he could have known for years.

Adam Jones has started all but two Baltimore games. He did not start the April 6 game against Seattle (Felix pitching), which was the game that prompted Trembley's quote about holding him out. He did not start the April 11 game against Tampa Bay (Shields pitching). He has started all the other games, including against Pettite of the Yankees and tonight, against Felix. So the question is: Has Trembley changed his plans? Or does Trembley think he hasn't seen superior pitching yet? (Granted, the Os haven't played the Red Sox.) But it doesn't look like AJ is missing many games.

And even though he didn't face Shields the second time around, he did face him on the first day of the season. With him facing Felix tonight, that would mean Jones will have faced every starting pitcher that has faced the Orioles all year. If Trembley really is trying to keep Jones from seeing the leagues better pitchers he certainly has a funny way of showing it.
But reality would never get in the way a Mr. X "Adam Jones Bashfest tm.

I bet Sherrill would like to pee in Bavasi's shoes. Dickey'd probably like to take a dump in them.

Adam Jones selfishly demands to start in Center. Proves what a jerk he is. All of Mr. X's claims proven true!!?!?
