What might have been

In case you haven't seen this, Dan Monson is apparently going to resign as coach at Minnesota today.

As a lot of you may recall, Monson was set to be named UW's new coach in 2002 before he apparently pulled himself out of the running. Having covered that coaching change, I know that the job could have been his if he had wanted it.

When it didn't work out with Monson, Barbara Hedges quickly turned to Lorenzo Romar and Romar was hired a few hours later. Hedges turned to Monson after earlier talks with Mark Few and Quin Snyder didn't get anywhere.

Now, both Snyder and Monson are out of their jobs and the Huskies are rolling with Romar.
