Is Roy's the best playoff performance ever by a UW alum?
Posted by Bob Condotta
Former Husky Brandon Roy scored 42 points tonight to lead Portland past Houston in the second game of a first-round playoff series.
And I'm going to go out on a limb and say that's the best performance by an ex-Husky in a playoff game ever.
Here's a list of every Husky who ever played in the NBA. The most obvious contender to have possibly scored that many is Detlef Schrempf. But his career-high is listed as 36.
James Edwards had some nice playoff runs, but pretty sure he never scored that many points in one game (I can't find his career high anywhere). Nate Robinson has yet to play in a playoff game. Nobody else on that list was that high of a scorer and would only have done it if there was some anomalous performance at some point I'm thinking I would have heard about.
So chalk up just a little bit more history for the player who soon may simply be known as the greatest ever produced by UW.
(And to answer an obvious question, it's not Roy's career high overall --- he had 52 in a game earlier this season.)
