Cameron Dollar to Seattle U.

Posted by Bob Condotta

A story on this should be up shortly but three sources have told the Times tonight that UW assistant Cameron Dollar will be named as the new head coach at Seattle University tomorrow. A press conference is expected at 1 p.m.

Here's the story.

Dollar, 33, has been a candidate for a number of jobs during his seven years at Washington but will now get his D-I head coaching start without having to move. He'll also be reunited with the Huskies every season as the two schools will play an annual game.

This means UW coach Lorenzo Romar will now be in the position of having to face two of his closest assistants each year with Ken Bone now at Washington State.

Dollar replaces Joe Callero, who left two weeks ago for Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo.

This will be the first departure from Romar's staff since 2005 when Bone left for Portland State.

Dollar has been with Romar since 1999 at Saint Louis and has been considered a key part of helping turn the Huskies around. He's been known for his recruiting acumen as well as his work in grooming Washington's guards, such as Nate Robinson, Brandon Roy and Isaiah Thomas.
