Brockman's Portsmouth team set, and nothing to IT rumors
Posted by Bob Condotta
As mentioned here a few days ago, Jon Brockman will be playing in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament April 8-11, an annual showcase for graduating college players to display their wares for NBA scouts.
The official rosters have just been announced and Brockman will play for the team Cherry, Bekaert @ Holland (assuming that's a law firm?).
He has some interesting teammates, such as Lorrenzo Wade of San Diego State, who for a little while in 2005 was thought to be transferring to UW from Louisville; guard Levance Fields of Pitt, whom Brockman played against twice at UW; and guard Ben Woodside of North Dakota State.
Other Pac-10 players in the tournament include WSU's Aron Baynes, Stanford's Lawrence Hill, UCLA's Alfred Aboya and Arizona State's Jeff Pendergraph. Gonzaga's Micah Downs is also in the tournament.
Brockman's team is scheduled to play its first game April 9 at 4 p.m. Pacific.
Here's more info on the PIT.
ON THOMAS AND THE 'DRAFT' --- Lots of buzz about Isaiah Thomas posting on his Facebook page today that he is entering the NBA Draft.
But it sounds as if he may have just been joking around.
Official word from the school today is that "Isaiah confirmed that it is not true that he is planning to enter the NBA Draft this year.'' So sounds as if much ado about nothing.
