Watts, Booker in 3BA game at KeyArena
Posted by Bob Condotta
Ex-Huskies Donald Watts and Jamie Booker are scheduled to be among those playing for the Seattle team in the new 3BA league that will make its area debut Friday night at KeyArena playing a team from Portland.
Here is the home page for 3BA with details on the league and other info.
As a league release says, the court is 50 feet wide and 72 feet in length. It uses 18-second shot clocks.
The game here is Friday night at 7:30. Booker apparently scored 57 points in a game in Portland last week.
The Portland team includes Rainier Beach alum C.J. Giles and a few other OSU alums such as David Lucas and another UW fan favorite, Marcel Jones.
The game will be shown on FSN.

It kind of sounds like it wants to compete with the likes of "And 1." The problem with a league like this is the talent of the players and the difficulties they will have to draw in crowds (unless tickets are $1). No offense to Donald Watts, Jamie Booker, Cj Giles, David Lucas, and Marcel Jones but if they traveled outside of Seattle or Portland where they are at least known, who would go and see them? At least with the "And 1" gimmick, when those street ballers come to town local guys get a chance to play with them.
Too me this sounds like a much smaller scaled version of the Xfl...and we all know how that worked out.

Meat....you just throw out crap after crap......and when your crap is wrong or makes lil or no sense you defend it with more crap......this is nothing like And1 accept that basketball is being played......And1 is more like the Globetrotters for the new generation.......this is a cute lil game that creates constant action for a group of people who want to watch basketball in the summer.......and brilliant comment captain obvious about how no one outside of Seattle or Portland would want to watch Watts, Booker or Jones play.....thats why there on the local teams.....so people will want to go out and see the local guys play.....I know I'd rather go watch Jason Gardner and Chris Rodgers.....who wouldnt??
also...how is it like the XFL?? Because they both were new leagues??...The XFL trIed to compete with the NFL....this league isnt competing with anyone........The XFL had some dough behind it....this league looks like they choose sides once they get to the gym
If anything the founders are thinking this league could be what lower level Arena Football is to NFL football.......

tj - how did you get such a bee in your bonnet? Meatball said nothing out of the ordinary - it's intended to be good street basketball. If that's the sort of thing you like, then this will be that sort of thing. I don't expect anyone will knock on your door with Uzzi's and make you watch on pain of death.

giles playing for portland, what a traitor?! he deserves to be heckled. i like how they like to claim our ba ball talent as their own. this league sounds like a pretty strange experiment. i'm a little curious
