Huskies get another 2009 commitment
Posted by Bob Payne
This was just called in from Bob Condotta, who was away from his computer:
The Washington Huskies have received their second commitment for the recruiting class of 2009, this one from a 6-9 1/2, 220-pound junior college forward from Los Angeles.
Charles Garcia Jr. said today as he was getting ready to fly back home after taking a visit to UW over the weekend that he would sign with the Huskies.
Garcia averaged 16 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots as a freshman at Riverside Community College last season. He will play at Riverside as a sophomore this year, and then join the Huskies in the fall of 2009.
Husky coaches were looking for a junior-college big man to help fill the void that will be created by the graduation after this season of Jon Brockman.
The Huskies earlier received a commitment from guard C.J. Wilcox of Pleasant Grove, Utah. The Huskies are expected to have four available scholarships for that class.
I'll have more later including some quotes from Garcia.

He also provides the Dawgs with a legit Center, something that they weren't going to find in the northwest this year, but one that won't be on the roster too long, so it fits well with the goal of pulling in Josh Smith in 2010
Strange, still no word on any of the recruiting sites...

Finally! We need Juco players. Get over it. They actually come in way better prepared, considering they've had two years of battling college classes and sports, rather then the abrupt jump.
