A few notes
Posted by Bob Condotta
As the title says. ...
--- UW assistant Paul Fortier is still in the running for the vacancy at Brown. The job has been open for a couple months now, ever since Craig Robinson left to take over at Oregon State. Fortier recently had an interview with Brown officials. A decision is likely in the next week or so.
--- Interesting note on Scott Wolf's blog that former USC forward Davon Jefferson's NBA stock is falling like a rock and that he may not get drafted. Jefferson already signed with an agent and can't return to school.
--- UCLA's Russell Westbrook has signed with an agent and won't be able to return to school, according to the LA Daily News. That means UCLA is sure to lose both Westbrook and Kevin Love, but appears likely to retain Josh Shipp, with Luc Richard Mbah a Moute apparently wanting to stay in but still undecided.
--- The LA Daily News also reports that Love was in Seattle today working out for the Sonics. For his sake, hopefully that went better than his last visit to Seattle, a 3-8 performance in a Bruins loss.
--- Kentucky transfer Derek Jasper, a high school summer league teammate of UW's Quincy Pondexter, is said to be considering UCLA and USC, among others, for his next stop.
All for now.

Bob...
I heard that in Orlando Kevin Love only measured out at 6"7 1/8, do you know if this is ture? I figured that his stock would be sliding especially after Dozier/Dorsey exposed his lack of athletisism in the final four. But what are you hearing now about where he might go.
Davon Jefferson signed with a agent? Can you say Doug Wrenn

I'm pretty sure I saw Isaiah Thomas running some pick-up games at the IMA with Gant and Holiday late last week (pretty sure it was him); looked like he's grown a few inches--a few inches taller than me and I'm 5'9".
I didn't get to see them actually play though, they were on their way out when I was going in.

Hawaii has one of the best, if not the best, high school b-ball tournaments in the country. The Iolani Classic. For those that know, it is the school that Derrick Low went to in Hawaii. Also, Bern Brostek, Albert Tufono, Frank Lutu, Leroy Lutu, and Donnie Mateaki for you UW football fans.
This year marks it's 25th year anniversary and the team are incredible.
Coming are:
Oak Hill, Fairfax, Montross, Le Flore just to name a few.
Just a few players that will be there, top 100 player ranking by Scout:
#2 Xavier Henry
#5Renaldo Sidney
#7 DeMarcus Cousins
#47 Tristan Spurlock
#48 Keith Gallon
#73 Terrel Vinson
There are more but I can't remember all the schools. Also, Michael Jordan kid's team is coming, so MJ will be following.
Nike is a sponsor.
I am trying to get the founder of the tournament to invite Garfield. They have gone to this tournament in the past with Brandon Roy and Isaiah Stanback. Also, Aaron Brooks also went with Franklin.
