Tre's team wins title
Posted by Bob Condotta
In case you missed it, the team in Israel that former Husky Tre Simmons is playing for, Hapoel Holon, recently won the Israeli League title, upsetting perennial power Maccabi. Here are the details.
Simmons was expected to play in the Rip The Cut tournament last week but was unable to after Hapoel Holon advanced to the finals.
Here's a story that mentions Simmons scoring 18 points during a regular season game in May.
There are some pretty good players in this league, such as former Pitt star Vonteego Cummings, former USC star David Bluthenthal and former Arizona and Georgia Tech star Will Bynum. Bluthenthal had one of the better games I've ever witnessed in person against the Huskies in 2001 when he hit 10-13 shots in a rout of the Huskies.

Thanks for the update Bob. I don't know how I could have missed the big news, seeing as Israeli League basketball is such a big deal here in Seattle. ;)

Splash -- Touche. Just always unsure what people know and what they don't. But hey, who doesn't keep up on the Israel League?

NIce to see Tre doing so well abroad by taking it seriously. By all Italian accounts, Conroy made a fool of himself in his brief pro stint and is now considered one of the worst deals made by both Milan and Bologna. sigh.

If any of you want to keep up with overseas sports (or politics, etc.) just go to www.ipl.org, scroll down to Reading Room/Newspapers, and you can access almost any newspaper in the world.

Lo,
It's apparent you don't know squat about oversees basketball. Both teams Will played on were terrible and not fit for a perrinnel point guard. Will's game is fit for NBA play. Do your homework and then make negative comments.

Hey Bob,
Great stuff. Someday soon can you give us an update on the non-hoops playing former UW hoopsters? I'd love to know what happened to guys like Zane Potter. Thanks!
