More on Rip The Cut tourney
Posted by Bob Condotta
For those in the Seattle area, this weekend presents a great chance to see a lot of former Huskies, as well as some other big-name basketball players, in action at the annual "Rip The Cut'' tournament at Cleveland High.
I gave the details of it the other day.
For those of you who asked for a schedule, I don't have a way to link it.
However, I will again pass along the games involving the most notable players.
A team led by Nate Robinson and featuring some other Rainier Beach players, is called N8's Block and plays its first game at 11 a.m. Saturday If it wins, it will play against at 2:30 p.m. If it loses, it will play again at 4:30 p.m.
A team led by Eldridge Recasner and also reportedly featuring Shawn Kemp and C.J. Giles is called Old School and plays its first game at 11 a.m. Saturday (though not against Robinson's team as there are two courts going on at once). It has the same schedule --- win an advance to 2:30 p.m., lose and play at 4:30 p.m.
A team featuring Brandon Roy and Will Conroy is called Home Team and plays at noon Saturday. That team is in the same bracket as the Recasner team so of each wins its opener, the two will play each other at 2:30 p.m. If they both lose they would play at 4:30 p.m.
A team featuring former Oregon star Aaron Brooks is called VIP and plays at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Games Sunday begin at 10 a.m.
The championship game is at 3 p.m. Monday.
Cost is $8 per day.

Deep --- I don't, sorry. I left before the final games today so I don't know the matchups. Play is expected to start at 10 a.m. As happens with any tournament, the schedule can get out of whack quickly. Brandon Roy's team was supposed to hit the floor at 11 a.m. today but didn't until after 1 p.m. So my suggestion would be to get there around 10 or so and see what's up.
