Brandon Roy injured

Posted by Bob Condotta

Unfortunate news out of Portland last night as Brandon Roy suffered a right groin strain that could sideline him for the rest of the season.

Here's a link from the Oregonian, and another from the Portland Tribune, the latter seeming to downplay the severity just a bit.

IN OTHER NEWS

--- The Tribune also has this wrapup of Portland State and Oregon, quoting Ken Bone as saying he doesn't think he'll be a serious candidate for the OSU job and that he won't chase after it. Also some thoughts from Bone on how Phil Nelson will fit in with the Vikings next season.

--- Here's the Tribune's update on the OSU coaching search that mentions Bone.

--- Here's a good story on ASU's loss to Florida last night.

--- Finally, here's our WSU coverage from today with a story on Taylor Rochestie.

All for now.

So, I've noticed many posts ripping Geno, coug4life, cougfan, seattle duck, and other "Husky haters" end up disappearing very quickly. Yet the obnoxious posts from Geno and company end up staying on the board. i.e. -- all of the negative Husky posts end up sticking around forever, but the posts retaliating get deleted.

Is it just possible that this is a tipping of the hand? Or, for you true conspiracy theory types: is Bob secretly Geno???????????

I did notice that. Ya gotta wonder who's steering the ship here.

I'll go one more step. Not only are they negative, I don't have a problem with negative, but they are pointedly antagonistic. I chose those words so to confuse the likes of those people you mentioned and I'll add a few more names: Medina Douche and
Everett Douche. Unless those trolls start following the rules set up here for ALL of us, they should be banned and those of us here that feel the need to defend ourselves and our Fine School, needn't be penalized for that.

Kent Bone does a good job but I really believe Phil Nelson made a big mistake leaving UW. PN has a huge amt of athletic ability and length to go with an excellent outside shot. Nevertheless he was a long way from developing to his potential and to becoming a complete player. I foresee him really lighting it up in the Big Sky conference jacking up ''3s' but as is very clear when PSU gets to the tournament they are really out classed by the power conferences. Becoming a dominant player over 4 years against Pac-10 competition can't be over stated.

IMHO he should have determined to work hard on being a defensive stopper on the perimeter a la Bobby Jones ( no reason he couldn't with his athleticism and length) and with his physical attributes and Shaw's coaching become a force on the boards. Two areas he was weak at and I believe part of the reason he lost his starting job to QP. Very few teams in the country can rebound like UW has over the last few years considering their size and he could have mastered this. The UW has been hampered by a lack of real quality perimeter players and I am certain he would have gotten a lot of playing time; he was in the right place at the right time. His offensive skills would have developed gradually; if you can handle the ball and create scoring opportunities for yourself and others in this league you will be able to do it at the next level up as well. Rodney Stuckey is a great story but a rarity. I wish PN the best.

I give QP credit that while he may not have progressed as rapidly as the fans have wanted he has perserved and has shown progress in all areas of his game. I think he will stay the full four years and become a special player if he keeps working.

Well said, Mr. Big.

I'm glad to know I'm not going crazy. I've wondered why it is that cougs and ducks are allowed to come on here and take endless pot-shots at UW (on a "husky" blog), and yet nothing happens. But when someone defends the UW against these jerks, then the retaliation post gets deleted! At least delete ALL of the negative posts -- not just the ones asking Geno, coug4life, etc. to shut up! In other words, is it too much to ask to delete the original post(s) that are causing all of the trouble in the first place for gosh sakes!?!

It's almost as if Bob wants the negative crap about UW to be posted and kept up. Which leads me back to the question about motivation. Why aren't posts from "medina tyee" (a total jack-ass), Geno (brainless), etc. instantly deleted as soon as they get posted? Obviously this blog is monitored. So it can't be that tough to just delete clearly antagonistic posts intended for no other purpose than to piss off true Husky fans who actually want to read legitimate HUSKY blog posts.

Please. Can this "Husky" blog come back around to being about Husky sports. And not just a dumping ground for ducks, cougs, etc. to come take cheapshots at the UW?

By the way, if you think this blog is bad, just check out the Husky football blog during football season. You'll see more ducks and cougs posting BS comments than you could ever imagine. It's beyond frustrating.

The reason is because the posts by people trashing UW are factual, while the retaliatory posts are personal attacks and often contain profanity. Kind of like a little baby that isn't getting their way and throws a fit. UW is obviously a second-rate university from an athletics standpoint over the last few years. You are the bottom feeders of the Pac-10 when you combine football and basketball results so you can't fault people for stating this fact. Just deal with it and hope for a day when you a little less pathetic rather than lash out at people like myself that are just trying to have rational dialogue.

Bob --

Get a clue. People like coug4life, geno, etc. are ruining your blog. If you want traffic for your "Husky" blog, then you need to get it under control. It's nothing more than a place for non-Huskies to come here and take shots. I imagine the majority of people who stop by here to see what it's about read a few posts by Geno, coug4life, etc. and just move on.

Hey, it's your blog. But I'm just telling you it has been hijacked. But then again, maybe you don't mind that.

moron4life --

Cut the crap. You aren't here to have a rational dialog. You're just here to spew your hate and to piss off Husky fans.

It's just pathetic that your school is actually having some very rare success (at anything) right now, yet you can't focus on that. Rather than celebrating the success with your fellow cougar fans, you spend your time on here being an @$$hole to Husky fans. Can you not see that's pathetic?

I guess that's what's different about winners and losers. As winners (usually) Husky fans celebrate success and enjoy things going right. By contrast, you're more interested in bringing others down. Since you can't be any good yourself, you figure the best avenue is to try to pull others down to your level.

You (and people like you) really are pathetic. The fact that you are here doing this speaks to your character. Forget sports for a minute. Your behavior here just shows that you're a really crappy human being who clearly hasn't enjoyed much (if any) success in your own life. Otherwise, you wouldn't waste your time on doing stuff like this.

To clear up a few things:

--- One, it's not "my'' blog. It's the Seattle Times basketball blog and I just happen to be the guy running it right now. People other than me also monitor the blog and delete posts that don't meet our stated criteria. I don't have the time to try to pick favorites --- I delete the ones I view objectionable. We don't delete dissenting points of view because this is designed to be a forum for all to discuss. But there are some format changes coming soon that will address some of your concerns. I'll detail those when they are ready.
