Brockman says he'll play
Posted by Bob Condotta
UW forward Jon Brockman said he's "pretty confident'' he'll be able to play against Valparaiso in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational Wednesday at Hec Ed.
Brockman missed the Cal game last Wednesday with a sprained ankle suffered against Washington State.
But Brockman says he feels "a lot better'' and no longer has to wear a protective boot, instead progressing to a smaller wrapping. He planned to try to do a few things in practice today and increase his work until Wednesday.
"I think I'll be able to get in there do a little bit of something (on Wednesday),'' he said. "I'm not sure how much it will be at this point. We'll just have to wait until Wednesday.''

I wish Brockman could redshirt until we actually put some players around him. What a waste of a great player.

Talk about a must win! Valpo was the SIXTH seed in the Horizon tournament. They do not have a single player of the Horizon Leage All-Conference first-team, second-team, all-defensive team, or all-newcomer team. They are basically a team of nobodies, from a nowhere conference, travelling a long distance on short notice. If UW blows this one, Romar's seat is going to start to feel like a George Foreman grill.

hey geno, i saw a post you made a few days ago about your opinion of UW's education being on parr with that of WAZZU's.
I guess your "educated" guess doesn't compare to many national and international rankings...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Washington#Rankings
You'd better write those groups that rank schools and tell them that they are wrong... cause well Geno said so.
ps- still waiting on your height... i'm still guessing five four.

What is embarrassing about the CSI is that UW had to pay $60k for its seed, while a team like Valpo gets in for free and probably has their expenses paid.

I for one am really excited for the chance to see the Huskies play some more. Of course I didn't realize they were playing on Wednesday and made other plans, but at least I can Tivo them and watch them later that night....uh, no, I guess they are not on TV, just pay per view.
Well, at least I can read a great blog story on the game late Wednesday night. This game should be a classic and I am anxiously awaiting Bob's expert analysis. Bob, you are going to cover the game right? I hope you can stay awake.
I like the word "invitational". The Huskies got invited to pony up $60K and they accepted. Even got a #1 seed for the money.
If this works, maybe the NCAA can learn something from it. Maybe in the future teams like the Huskies can pay their way in. Right now team #65 can play their way in. Why not have an auction and let a couple of high bidders "pay" their way in. Capitalism at it's finest. They could even make a game between them where the loser pays for both. That would give schools an incentive to bid if they think they can win the game. The loser pays their bid.
There are so many ways this could go. The possibilities are endless!

From Ziasudra -
How much do you think Beijing had to pony up to host the olympics? Half a billion? San Antonio had to guarantee how many million to host the final four? Everyone bids for hosting games with hard cash guarantees. Standard procedure, you jerks! You want to host something, you have put up money, plain and simple. Someone has to pay for Valpo's travel, the refs, etc., etc. UW will make money overall, both by the gate and ancilliary income.
Why don't you talk about the cougs couging it? You might get past Wintrop, but that's all, baby!

Nothing wrong with the CBI. It's just like a preseason tourney and gets your returning kids some extra practice, seniors go out with a few more games, and a chance to mix it up a little outside the conference again. Relax people.

Sooooooooo...is it true. I head the Huskies will play in the BBC...no, the CCB....no, the ICB.....no, the BCI. I wish them the very best although fans will not be watching the best college basketball by far. But then again, you Husky are pretty much used to mediocrity aren't you.

Actually what I said was that UW is by far the inferior school scholastically. Anyone can get in since it's in the big city. RETARDS WELCOME!

It is inarguable that WSU has a better basketball team this season and last. It is inarguable that the UW had the better team the previous two seasons and has had the better team historically. It is without doubt that, excepting some specialized agricultural programs, UW is a far superior academic institution. Only a completely delusional person would say anything different. For complete delusion, we have Geno!

It's cool we got into something post-season, finally. The CBS (or is it ABC, or NBC) is great. If it works out well, and if we get an AD, he should immediately start working for something like that for football. A game against another bowl inelligable team. My gawd, 'tis a sad decade to be a dawg.

Just when you think Geno can't be any more of an idiot, he finds a way to top himself!
Geno, do YOURSELF a favor and crawl under a rock somewhere. Have you ever wondered why you don't have any friends? Have you ever wondered why girls roll their eyes at your approach? Well, if your behavior on this blog is any indication, it's because you're a complete and total loser. Keep posting, dork. It's reached a point where it actually makes me laugh now!

"UW is by far the inferior school scholastically. Anyone can get in since it's in the big city"
That is the most ridiculous thing I've heard anyone say in a while. Why don't you ask most of the students at wsu which is easier to get into?

Bob,
Can you please refrain from emphasizing that Huskies aren't just playing Wednesday night but are playing "Valparaiso in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational".
College Basketball Invitational just kind of screams out in a mocking tone.
Though I strongly disagree with the gripers who are lamenting the fact Huskies are playing in this (c'mon, they weren't good enough for the tourney...or even the NIT...let's just admit it and appreciate that at least they get a few more games under their belt and move on) - I do have to confess that each time I see that phrase it reminds me of the fact that this tournament is indeed kind of embarassing.
So how about if we all agree that Huskies play Wednesday night. (period!)
No more references WHY they are playing...just that they are playing... and you know what, they might even play a 2nd game (period!).
Thanks for you consideration in this delicate time Bob.
