UW-Syracuse NIT rematch?
Posted by Bob Condotta
So does the world need a third meeting this year between Syracuse and Washington in a major sports competition?
NIT-ology apparently thinks so, as their latest projection has the Huskies playing at Syracuse in the first round of the NIT.
Here's the link.
UW played at Syracuse in football in August and the two hoops teams met in November in the NIT Season Tipoff in New York.
As you can see, they have UW as a No. 8 seed, and if they are in any way on target, that could mean the Huskies needing to win a game in the conference tournament to make a good final impression.
As an added bonus, you see they also now have a bracket for the CBI.

Didn't San Diego State beat Gonzo for the automatic NCAA slot? Why are they in the CBI? Do they get to play both after a first game loss?

Horrible to hear about Brockman...HORRIBLE! But, you have to play the hand you are dealt and we will see what the Huskies can do.
After further calculations, I believe Bob outpicked me by one, count 'em, ONE game in the picks. We have discussed a possible rematch during the PAC 10 tourney. So, Bob, here is my challenge to you. You won the PAC 10 regular season title (1-0); now comes the PX tourney--which I will win--and then we have matty's ESPN tourney challenge. So it is best of 3 and you lead 1-0.
My picks:
Arizona over OSU: I am surprised the Beavs are even showing up. (72-56)
Cal over UW: After a great run at the end of the season with wins over UCLA, UofA, and a close call at Wazzu, I don't think the Huskies have enough to keep it going w/o Brockman. Unfortunately, I think his injury will also keep them out of the NIT again, further infuriating the Husky faithful. When Brockman went down on Saturday I felt horrible. (74-61)
BTW, still have 2 tickets available for the Denver regional.

The NIT-ology is just a quick look at the "best of the rest" at this time.
The seedings and regionals are definitely not set yet as the host schools can change dramatically over the next week. There is no east coast bias (yet).
The current NIT-ology has Arizona, Oregon, and ASU in the big dance. If Arizona or Oregon gets their bubble burst, they could very well host a NIT regional.
They would not have Arizona as a 1 seed and UW as an 8th seed in the same region though. Nor would they have UW and Syracuse in the same region as the 1 and 8 seeds (if at all possible).

Time for the boys to suck it up and play like men. They need to go out and win one for the Brock.

Interesting that all the NIT regionals are no further west than Florida. Is that east coast bias showing again?
