Early practice notes
Posted by Bob Condotta
As Howard Cosell might say, a veritable plethora of notes to pass along. ...
--- The team is in half pads --- helmets, shoulder pads and shorts --- so no full contact today. It's overcast but not raining, but the combination of everything has resulted in what looks to me to be the smallest crowd of the year here so far. Maybe 150 people or so.
--- Among those out today are LB Donald Butler and RB Chris Polk. Not sure what Butler's situation is, but added to the fact that E.J. Savannah, Kurt Mangum and Cort Dennison are already out with other injuries and the LB corps is pretty thin today. Polk is walking around but is in red and not doing much work.
--- The injuries left Mason Foster, Trenton Tuiasospo and Brandon Huppert as the No. 1 LBs.
--- Quinton Richardson is practicing and is not in red so he appears to be recovered from the incident at the end of practice Monday.
--- UW officials said there are about 200 players who have RSVPed for the Big W Club Tailgate party Saturday before the spring game. There is also a private reception for just the former players and current coaches on Friday night. Among those who have RSVPed are Corey Dillon, Benji Olson, Olin Kreutz, Mark Bruener, Lawyer Milloy, Damon and Brock Huard, Warren Moon, Marques and Zach Tuiasosopo, Hakim Akbar, Shane and Jeff Pahukoa, Joe Steele, Dave and Steve Hoffman, Keith Gilbertson, Jim Lambright and Anthony Kelley, and possibly Jim Mora.
--- The players will have sideline passes to the spring game Saturday.
--- Fans, however, will not be allowed on the sidelines during the game as they have been for spring practices as this will be run similar to a regular-season game.
--- Parking is not free until noon but is instead whatever the regular rates are for wherever you decide to park. So be prepared to pay.
--- You will be able to follow the festivities with the former players through the Twitter page of former Husky OL Elliot Silvers, who is now the head of the Big W Club. Here's that page.
