A really tentative depth chart
Posted by Bob Condotta
A reader asked if I could put together a depth chart based on what we saw from practice Monday.
I'll go ahead and try it with the understanding this is just what I saw and nothing official (and I could be wrong in what I saw and happy to hear your corrections if you were there Monday.) And also with the understanding that many positions I'm sure are subject to immediate and constant change as the coaches experiment and seek to find the right roles for players, and also as they simply have more time to evaluate everyone.
OFFENSE
QB --- Jake Locker/Ronnie Fouch.
TB --- David Freeman/Chris Polk/Demetruis Bronson/Willie Griffin (but this one looks so fluid that they may as well be 1a, 1b, etc.).
FB --- Paul Homer/Austin Sylverster.
TE --- Kavario Middleton/Chris Izbicki
WR --- D'Andre Goodwin/Cody Bruns
WR --- Jermaine Kearse/Jordan Polk
WR --- Devin Aguilar/Anthony Boyles and/or Alvin Logan
LT --- Cody Habben/Allen Carroll
LG --- Ben Ossai/Morgan Rosborrough
C --- Ryan Tolar/Mykenna Ikehara
RG --- Senio Kelemete/Matt Sedillo
RT --- Drew Schaefer/Skyler Fancher
DEFENSE
DE --- Everrette Thompson/De'Shon Matthews
DT --- Daniel Te'o-Nesheim/Tyrone Duncan
DT --- Cameron Elisara/Alameda Ta'amu
DE --- Darrion Jones/Kalani Aldrich
OLB --- E.J. Savannah/Matt Houston
MLB --- Donald Butler/Trenton Tuiasosopo
OLB --- Mason Foster/Cort Dennison
CB --- Matt Mosley/Vonzell McDowell
CB -- Quinton Richardson/Marquis Persley
S --- Nate Williams/Tripper Johnson
S --- Johri Fogerson/Greg Walker
PK --- Erik Folk (and didn't really see anyone else do it, and there is no other scholarship PK on the roster)
(Note --- I'm taking out the punter as I see the first comment was already questioning that. So again, this is just what I saw yesterday, not a projection for next year, just how they appeared to line up on Monday. I didn't see enough of punting to get a sense of it but I think no matter how it ends up this spring that Mahan is probably the guy in the fall. That's not necessarily the case at any other position).
