Rumblings on stadium bill, uniforms
Posted by Bob Condotta
I heard a couple of things over the weekend worth passing along on the stadium and uniforms:
--- First, on the stadium. Word is that the bill that would include provisions for funding the renovation of Husky Stadium --- specifically, sending it over to King County to deal with, instead --- could be introduced as soon as this week. (Here's our most recent story that detailed what may happen with the bill). That's not a real out-on-the-limb statement since it has to happen soon if it is to happen at all. Here's the legislative calendar for this year and you can see the deadlines are fast approaching. Speaking of the stadium, KING-5 reported over the weekend that there doesn't appear to be much support for approving funding for a renovation right now. However, UW officials remain optimistic.
--- Next, on the uniforms. Word is the final look for the new uniforms is still being designed, and as I reported earlier, it apparently won't be done until the fall, so it's not something you'll see this spring. However, word is that the new uniforms will feature more elements of the 1980s-style duds, including a darker gold and stripes on the pants. Here's what those pants looked like.
