Eastern Washington football hit with major violations
Posted by Bob Condotta
This isn't Husky news, but figured it interesting since it does have an impact on Washington State as the NCAA announced today that the football program at Eastern Washington University has been found to have committed major violations from 2003-04 to 2006-07.
The violations occurred when current WSU head coach Paul Wulff was the head coach at Eastern, and at least one of the penalties will follow him to Pullman this year.
Here is the official release from the NCAA stating that the penalties largely consisted of impermissible participation in practices by ineligible players and using too many coaches.
Here's our story on the violations and penalties.
One of the penalties is that Wulff will not be allowed contact with his WSU football team the first three days of practice this fall.
The biggest penalty on Eastern is that the school will not be allowed to participate in the playoffs following the 2009 season.
I'll pass more on this along later as it develops.
