Roderick completes UW staff, and a few new Huskies? UPDATED

Posted by Bob Condotta

Sounds as if UW has a new receivers coach, after all, and it is indeed Aaron Roderick of Utah.

The University of Utah just announced that Roderick changed his mind after initially accepting an offer to become co-offensive coordinator for the Utes and will instead become WR coach at UW.

UPDATE --- A UW official has just announced this is a done deal.

Here's the link to the announcement of Roderick's departure.

That completes UW's coaching staff as a receivers coach was the last piece missing. As I broke down on Friday, I would expect that Roderick will receive a two-year deal worth around $145,000 or so.

Roderick is a 1998 graduate of BYU where he played one season alongside new UW head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Here's his bio.

Also, is reporting that safety Will Shamburger of St. John Bosco has committed to the Huskies while on his visit this weekend. Here's a profile of Shamburger, who committed to Boise State earlier this year but then reconsidered and is apparently headed to UW. He played in high school with another UW commit, quarterback Keith Price, which surely helped sway his decision. West Coast recruiting analyst Greg Biggins told me a few weeks ago he thought Shamburger was one of the bigger sleepers in California this year and thought this would be a good get for the Huskies if it comes to pass.

UPDATE -- RealDawg is also reporting that WR James Johnson of Valley Center, Calif., has committed. Here's his bio, indicating that Oregon had been his favorite. If Johnson has committed, this would be about the biggest get so far for Sarkisian considering the other schools involved.

UPDATE NO. 2--- Sounds like Wilson High DB Desmond Tufant, the brother of Seahawk and former Coug Marcus Trufant, has also committed, capping a productive weekend for the Huskies. I'll try to recap it all tomorrow.
