Players enthused about Holt hire
Posted by Bob Condotta
Had a chance to talk with a couple of players today to get their reaction to the hiring of Nick Holt as defensive coordinator, and it was understandably positive.
"I'm excited to be able to play for guy of that caliber,'' said linebacker Mason Foster.
Foster said he remembered clearly watching USC's defense during the Trojans 56-0 win over the Huskies this season.
He said he was impressed by "the way all 11 guys swarmed to the ball and made plays in the backfield. It was incredible. I think he's going to turn this around.''
Cornerback Quinton Richardson said he has marveled at all the coaching moves being made.
'"We've got all the good coaches coming in,'' he said. "To me, it's just really exciting.''
Richardson said the moves are "getting me amped up. They are going to do their part, we'll do ours. I already believe they will put us in the right positions. I'm ready to listen and learn.''
The players reconvened for their first meeting of the new year with new head coach Steve Sarkisian today, getting instructions for the winter conditioning program, among other things.
Richardson said that "everybody is already working extra hard. Everybody has a glow about them, a new karma. I really feel something special is going on.''
