Some more info on Sarkisian
Posted by Bob Condotta
As I wrote earlier, expect a press conference announcing the hiring of Steve Sarkisian on Sunday or possibly Monday. Several sources said Sarkisian wanted to wait until after USC's game with UCLA Saturday before any announcement was made.
So just who is UW's prospective new coach, anyways?
I tried to find a few things on him to pass along:
--- Here's a story from the LA Daily News for Friday's edition on Sarkisian's situation, noting that he could remain with USC until it plays in its bowl game.
--- Here's a story from this week's LA Times on Sarkisian, Norm Chow and DeWayne Walker, who once were all on the same team at BYU.
--- Here's a story from the Orange County Register from November pointing out how some USC fans had grown disenchanted with his playcalling and also detailing a little of his history.
--- Here's an entry from the LA Times USC blog in November asking USC fans if Sarkisian should be retained as OC.
--- Here's a good biographical sketch of Sarkisian from the Deseret News in 2005 detailing his fast rise as a coach.
--- Here's a Q-and-A with Sarkisian about his playing days in the CFL.
--- Finally, here's a story on the one game Sarkisian played at Husky Stadium while the QB for BYU in 1996. The game was BYU's only loss in a season when the Cougars went 14-1 (yes, 14-1).
All for now.
