Brian Kelly also in the mix?

Posted by Bob Condotta

I've heard tonight from two different sources of another coach who may also be heavily involved in UW's search --- Cincinnati's Brian Kelly.

One told me that Kelly may have a formal interview for the job next week, similar to the type Pat Hill had with UW today. There are also rumblings that UW officials have already talked with Kelly in one form or another.

Here is some info on Kelly, who led Cincy to a 10-2 record and the Big East title this year, capped by a 30-10 win today over Syracuse.

Kelly signed a new five-year contract after last season that pays him a reported $1.2-1.35 million per season.

Kelly, however, could also be a prime candidate at Notre Dame if that job comes open, as many think could happen after what happened tonight.

As for Hill, I've gotten several confirmations that he did interview today. He is expected back in Fresno for the team's season-ending banquet tomorrow.

The Kelly information, however, indicates that the interview process is still ongoing.

Also, as I wrote yesterday, a source said that UW has inquired about talking with Texas Tech coach Mike Leach. And one source said that Utah's Kyle Wittingham may also be in the picture, though the general thought on him is that he would be hard to pry away right now.
