Willingham conference call notes
Posted by Bob Condotta
Nothing really of note from UW coach Tyrone Willingham's appearance on the Pac-10 coaches conference call today.
He answered a few philosophical questions about recruiting, one in which he said the goal is that "you don't have to rely as much'' on the incoming players to compete right away, something that UW has obviously not been able to do this year with 12 true freshmen seeing action.
He also said that the role of the head coach is "very important'' in recruiting. "The head coach really gives the meaning and the susbstance of your pgoram and those guys identify with who he is what hes about and how much confidence and belief they have in him. I think you see that especially reflected in that last class (UW's 2008 recruiting class).''
Willingham said there were no personnel updates of any note. He said the team had a "nice, physical workout'' on Sunday but that the coaches tried to change it up a bit from the usual Sunday workout "to make sure it had some freshness to it.''
He said the bye week practices will be changed a little, as well, though he didn't go into detail, but he said the team will "keep the same trend going of health, work and then development.''
