As the title says. ...
--- The Huskies may have a new offensive lineman, according to RealDawg.com. The website is reporting that Nick Scott, a 6-5, 311-pound offensive tackle from Drake, is transferring to UW. From what I can tell, he has already used two years of eligibility plus a redshirt season and would have just two to play two. Here's his bio from the Drake media guide last year, showing he redshirted in 2005 and then played as a reserve in 2006. The school's stats show he was a starter last season. My understanding is that players have to sit out a year transferring up a division --- Drake is a member of the Pioneer Football League, a member of the Football Championship Subdivision. But maybe there is something different about his case making him eligible immediately. Drake went 6-5 last season overall, 3-4 in Pioneer League play.
--- Dashon Goldson continues to impress at safety for the 49ers, and in this story, he credits his move to cornerback for his senior year at UW as helping him understand better how to play at safety.
--- Louis Rankin is doing "all the right things'' according to this story in the San Francisco Chronicle, even if he remains a longshot to make the roster of the Raiders.
--- Speaking of the Raiders, this story on Andrew Walter's troublesome career to date indicates the backup QB job is going to Marques Tuiasosopo.
--- IrishEyes ranks UW's offensive line second of all of those Notre Dame will face this season.
--- Ted Miller has lots of good notes from around the Pac-10.
--- Sounds like Oregon has added a linebacker who could play immediately and help fill in for the suspended Kevin Garrett.
All for now.
