Do Huskies have their first commit?

Posted by Bob Condotta

The answer is yes, according to RealDawg.com, which is reporting today that UW has received a commitment from quarterback Keith Price of Bellflower, Calif. UPDATE --- Scout.com now has a report on Price as well, with a quote from Price saying he has committed to UW.

Here is his Scout.com bio indicating he also had offers from Utah and Nevada.

Here also is a little blurb on Price from the Orange County Register, as well as a breakdown of his game from Recruiting Planet. And here's another story on Price from Yahoo.com.

As noted in this story last week, the Huskies had been the only Pac-10 team without a commitment. Given that Pac-10 media day is tomorrow in Los Angeles, this news couldn't come at a better time.

Price is quoted in the RealDawg story saying he "had a great time'' at UW's camp earlier this month and thought about committing then but held off because he wanted to talk with family.

Price gives UW another QB in the "dual-threat'' mode, and would give them five for next season, assuming status quo with the current roster. UW's starter is obviously Jake Locker, with redshirt freshmen Ronnie Fouch behind him, and then true freshmen Dominique Blackman and Luther Leonard.

Loving this news. He looks like a great recruit with a lot of upside and has the frame to put on a lot of muscle during the next year before he's at UW.

Welcome Keith and lets keep those commits coming!

Also reading that Price was Co-MVP with Matt Barkely (#1 recruit in the county) down in his league in SoCal. Color me impressed. Is this true?

A roster of quarterbacks will not save Willingham's job. Failure to lead.

According to several recruiting analyst, this kid is really flying under the radar and is poised for a huge senior reason. He plays in an area in california where it is easy to get overlooked but has huge upside

Seattle Dave -

Wanted to get back to your last comment a few posts back. I went golfing today and I come home and get on the thread and find 5 new topics with a multitude of responses.

Anyway - Not to say anything to take away my support from Coach Willingham, if things don't work out, I DO see the Huskies going after Bronco Mendenhall.

Not only is he one of the hottest coaches around, I truly believe that the UW wants some kind of an indise track to Jake Heaps, If TW is not here, Bronco is LDS (as is Jake Heaps) which will truly help.

Would they really hire a coach just to help get a HS QB as part of the consideration? In Heap; I think it has a lot of weight. All indications are: He's THAT GOOD!

seems like like a solid player and has a lot of potential!

i love following these recruits i hope more start coming in

is the max again this year 25 players?

Oh I totally agree that UW would be smart to go after Bronco, if we ever found ourselves w/o a coach by some freak circumstance. However I can't see an LDS coach who by all accounts loves Provo and is beloved at the "Y" ever leaving that school.

Shane,

They are probably going to be able to have 17 or 18 players. The max for a single year is 25 but we are so young we can't offer 25 because we would be over the 85 scholarship limit.

oh and re: Keith Price he seems like an excellent prospect, kudos to the coaching staff for getting him committed.

Seattle Dave -

Yeah, they do love him at BYU, but I don't think you'll see him get any better offer than what Utah
was able to offer to offer Urban Meyer; where he was loved just as much.

I'm LDS and though we are loyal to our church, the church does little, if anything, to ever interfere with a person's personal choice regarding work. Money is money, this is the Pac-10 vs. the MWC; if the opportunity presented itself and the compensation was right, I believe he'd come.

I agree though, right now the point is kind of moot and mute.
