Oregon Pac-10 notes

Posted by Bob Condotta

Here's a bit more from Pac-10 media day focusing first on UW's first opponent of the season, the Oregon Ducks:

Oregon coach Mike Bellotti said that all of his team's injured players --- QB Nate Costa, RB Jeremiah Johnson, and LBs John Bacon and Jerome Boyd --- are completely healthy and cleared for all football activity.

Bellotti said Costa goes into the fall as the No. 1 QB but that Justin Roper is closed behind based on his play in the Sun Bowl.

Bellotti said he likes playing Washington in the opening game because it's a Pac-10 game that has the attention of his players, it's on TV, "and we get three weeks to prepare for Jake Locker, who is one of the most difficult athletes in college football to defend.''

Bellotti also said he envisions using both Johnson and LeGarrette Blount failry interchangeably in the backfield.

Bellotti led off his comments with a tribute to recently deceased safety Todd Doxey and was accompanied to the podium by safety Patrick Chung who said that Doxey's death "is hard to talk about, but it's made our team stronger.''

August 30th a big game?

That it is....perhaps none bigger for Ty during his tour here.

Oh and UW Dawg...with all due respect, you are wasting your time trying to change the stripes on the zebra.

Bob -

I'm sorry, but doesn't Eugene and the UO have their own newspaper with their own blog?? Why here?? I don't really want to hear about anything from or about Mike Bellotti unless of course it pertains to another sex scandel. He's such an example of the "Molder of Men" you'd like your son to learn from.

Get over yourself. Ducks are a p10 team and the huskies first opponent. If you haven't noticed Bob is reporting on all of the teams in the conference
If you don't want to learn anything about them then don't read the entry. Go over to dawgman where you can live in your own myopic state

I do love to read about the rest of the League - just not Oregon, not now - not EVER. The WORST experiences I've EVER had going on the road to watch the Dawgs has come from Oregon.

The report on Belloti's comments was very useful, but leaves me wondering whether J. Johnson has really gotten all the way back from that devastating injury. Belloti certainly isn't going to say otherwise. We'll find out on Aug 30, but it would be good to know beforehand. The complementary styles J.J. and Blount bring to the running game would be an enormous challenge for the young Husky defense----assuming Johnson is 100%. But that's just another element of the puzzle that has to be solved to produce The Upset That Will Shock the Nation. Locker is a big challenge for the ducks, and they have an excellent defense to bring to the task. By contrast, UW's defense will struggle in this game, unless Donatell can work miracles in three weeks of practice. We can't expect that from anyone. Neverheless, like some others, I see a huge upset emerging from the unpredictable elements in this game. Well worth the drive, even if an upset has to be a low probability event. If it happens, I'll be able to say I was there. Troy Must Be Destroyed (discombobulated ducks demolished).

wacker,
boooo hooo. As I said get over yourself. Don't like it? Then go try realdawg. Lots of myopic duck haters over there too, you'll have lots of company. Otherwise the rest of us will enjoy the coverage Bob gives us on the P10. Thx Bob.

Worst experience I ever had was @ USC. Doesn't mean that I am not curous to read about their team.

Yeah, go to Realdawg. I hear it's great.

The publisher has all kinds of inside sources, a fax machine, and really knows how to get up close and personal with recruits. Truly a super site.

onewoodwacker -

You might want to stay away from Autzen Stadium this year. Your Dawgs are going to get their a** kicked yet again, which would add another to your list of "worst experiences" ever.
