Pac-10 leads in team titles, UW 22nd in Director's Cup
Posted by Bob Condotta
The college sports season is over for another year and it turned to be one of the best ever for the Pac-10.
As detailed in this release from the conference, the Pac-10 won 13 team titles this year, one shy of its record and the most of any conference. The total does not include Washington's men's rowing title as that is not a sanctioned NCAA championship.
The Pac-10 also had eight schools finish in the top 30 in the Director's Cup, a comparison based on a points system of how schools did in all sports.
UW was among those eight, placing 22nd. That's up from 29th a year ago despite the fact that this was the first time in 50 years the Huskies had losing seasons in both football and men's basketball, speaking to the fact that while the spotlight sports are struggling, a lot of the others are obviously doing pretty well.
