Catching up on a few links, with the focus on UW's Pac-10 opponents:
--- UW's first foe in 2008, the Oregon Ducks, also began workouts on Monday. Rob Moseley of the Eugene Register-Guard has this report that also includes some health updates (sounds as if RB Jeremiah Johnson is doing just fine) and info on some newcomers.
--- Washington State has added former O'Dea High star Brandon Jones, who played sparingly in two years at Cal before transferring. Sounds as if Jones also reached out to the Huskies but didn't get a lot of interest, and then decided to head to Pullman. One thing worth pointing out is that if all new players make it academically, UW should be at the 85-scholarship limit this year so there wouldn't have necessarily been room for Jones.
--- A columnist for the Bleacher Report wonders if some recent developments regarding the building of facilities at Cal may cause Bears coach Jeff Tedford to look elsewhere soon. That could have ramifications up here if all those saying Tyrone Willingham has the hottest seat in America prove true.
--- Cliff Kirkpatrick of the Corvallis Gazette-Times unveiled his Pac-10 picks a few days ago, slotting the Huskies ninth.
--- And actually, here's one Husky-link as UW gets the treatment from the college football website Every Day Should Be Saturday. The Husky fan in question is Seth Kolloen who runs the blog Enjoy The Enjoyment. (Though I'll point out two minor quibbles --- it's DTs UW doesn't have any of as Daniel Te'o-Nesheim gives the Huskies at least one proven DE; and Rick Neuheisel's $4.5 million settlement actually included only $2 million from the school --- and as I wrote a few years ago, it actually included no new money Neuheisel's way as he had to write a big tax check to the school for getting to keep the $1.5 million loan. The rest of the settlement was from the NCAA.)
All for now.
