Huskies to hit Bellingham
Posted by Bob Condotta
It's a big week in Bellingham for Husky-related events, highlighted by Jake Locker's probable debut playing summer baseball.
Locker is expected to play in the opener Friday night for the Bellingham Bells of the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League.
However, the weather forecast is pretty bad for Friday in Bellingham, so that could derail those plans. The league requires that all players finish up schooling before they are eligible to play, and Locker is expected to take his final test of the quarter earlier Friday to make up eligible to play this weekend. Word I have gotten is that Locker is expected to play in most, if not all, of the team's weekend home games, and possibly a few of the closer road trips. He may miss a lot of weekday games due to football commitments at UW.
Also this week in Bellingham is the Coaches Tour event Thursday at the Bellingham Country Club. It had been initially reported that Locker would attend that event, but he apparently will not be able to due to a last-minute scheduling conflict.
However, those who will attend include: Lorenzo Romar, Cameron Dollar, Tia Jackson, Tim Lappano, volleyball player Christal Morrison and John Buller, PR Coordinator for the Husky Stadium renovation project.
More info can be found here at UWalum.com.
Head football coach Tyrone Willingham will not attend as he is instead attending the 5th Annual Marine Corps Classic celebrity golf tournament a four-day event in Jacksonville, N.C., Willngham's hometown.
Here are more details on that event.
