Derek Johnson of Scout.com has this interview today with former Times columnist Blaine Newnham.
Blaine talks mostly about some of his favorite Husky memories so it's a good read for UW fans.

jh,
Really? It's getting old. Face the fact that Willingham will NOT be fired before the start of the season. When the season gets rolling and IF we start to lose then by all means be as negative as you want. It’s the offseason right now and the only good you are doing by saying this stuff (multiple times) is spreading unneeded venom about our program. I as much as you want to see this program return to its glory days and I realize that this is the season to do it or we will need to move on. I want this program to win, but I know it doesn’t help to drag the program through the dirt during the summer! Get yourself together, get a beer and enjoy the sun. I’ll see when the season starts.

206 Dawg. jh doesn't care about Husky football even a little bit. He is a Notre Dame troll that has a vendetta against TW.
The man just can't let it go. Even though he has that piece of crap Charlie Weiss to bitch about he just can't let go of his hate.

..."When the season gets rolling and IF we start to lose then by all means be as negative as you want."
...poor guy...just what do you mean..."IF [willingham] starts to lose"...TW apologist gets amnesia regarding three last place Pac-10 finishes in three years...y'all are at the bottom of the barrel...even compared to WSU and Stanford...whose next?...San Jose State?...

So JH, what are you going to do when ND comes to town and leaves embarrassed after losing to the worst coach in the country? Jake is going to run all over the flailing irish.

This is the time of the year we are all suppose to be optimistic. I am not a big TW fan, but the more I read the more I believe he is headed in the right direction. If we lose this season I will not just be looking at the lose but how we got beat. If it is like some games in the past then I will join the "TW has to go" crowd. But until then I am thinking a couple upsets, the first being August 30 and a minor bowl. We only have 106 more days.

But it's just....4 years?? Do we excuse him for the first 3 years and say that winning really isn't a top priority for the football team? That's really what people do, using schedules and the horrific state pre-Ty state of the program as excuses. Therefore, he never needed to show he could win in his first 3 years.
That's an odd job description for a head football coach, wouldn't you say? Don't worry about winning football games? The worst part is that for every Ty supporter who says this is the final year they'll give him, you'll get 2 more on this blog who make excuses and want to give him a FIFTH year.
Can the anti-Ty crowd ever be happy? How miserable do we want to be? Those are the questions you ask. Such is the state of Husky football...

Here's a sobering link:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3396284
"I think it includes a pretty fair evaluation of UW and what could reasonably be expected.
In reading through it, I have to ask, how can anyone objectively say that UW should have a good or even decent year.
* We're coming off a 4-9 record.
* We had the worst defense ever in the history of Husky football. And this year we'll be playing a lot of first year guys. It's hard to imagine the defense being any worse, but will it be substantially better? -- I doubt it.
* Our #1 RB is gone.
* All of our starting receivers are gone.
* Our center (leader, great player, etc.) is hurt.
* Our coach consistently gets out coached after halftime. How many games will we be in at halftime only to get slaughtered in the 2nd half? We've seen this happen over and over and over again. There is no reason to believe this won't be repeated in 2008.
* Our schedule is brutal:
Aug. 30 @ Oregon
Sept. 6 BYU
Sept. 13 Oklahoma
Sept. 27 Stanford
Oct. 4 @ Arizona
Oct. 18 Oregon State
Oct. 25 Notre Dame
Nov. 1 @ USC
Nov. 8 Arizona State
Nov. 15 UCLA
Nov. 22 @ Washington State
Dec. 6 @ California
I look at all of these things, and I can't help but assume 2008 is going to be another disaster. If we go 5-7, it will be a miracle. Bowling? Don't make me laugh.
I have to ask, why are we four years into Ty's "rebuilding project" and yet we're facing this much of a mess?"
...thursday...because he was hired in the first place...all the negatives you state were predictable based on what happened at Stanford and ND...the UW alumni - like the ND alumni before - need to step up and tell the administration that willingham was a hiring mistake and to rectify this mistake before any more damage is done...based on willingham's "recruitment"...UW is looking at losing seasons for at least three years following his firing...when will that clock start ticking?...
