Here's the complete transcript of the second day of the Football Forum featuring UW coach Tyrone Willingham.
The topics, as mentioned in the earlier post today, included minority hiring and a college football playoff.
In one interesting passage that was already detailed in some of the stories posted earlier, Willingham asks "who is the championship for?'' of a playoff system.
And then, in an exchange dripping in irony given his general feelings about the media which he detailed again on the first day of the Forum, Willingham asks "don't shoot the messenger now'' when pressed on his stand, adding "I just asked the question.'' May have to try that one myself sometime.
Also of note is that Notre Dame athletic director Kevin White was among the panelists. He was the AD at the time Willingham was fired and made the famous comment about the program exceeding expectations from Sunday through Friday.
Ron Higgins of the Memphis Commercial-Appeal notes that there was some light-hearted banter about that reunion with all sides apparently getting along just fine.
As for the transcript of the Forum, Willingham at one point talked about UW having three byes this season, saying that "some might say that might be a little excessive'' but that he thinks it's important to give his players some breaks. Certainly could be this year for a young, building team without a lot of proven depth.
There's also some discussion near the bottom about the rule changes this year (specifically the 40-25 timing rule) and the influence of the NFL on college football. Willingham says he thinks the new timing rules could cut 5-10 plays out of the game next season.
