In case you missed it, UW has put out the call for a new school anthem.
I'd give my vote to anyone who could still sneak "Dardanelles'' in there somewhere.

I've never written about the UW baseball team on this blog before, and the plan is to always keep this to being almost strictly a blog about football happenings.
But with a lull in football news, I was assigned a baseball story this week and thought I'd pass it along here.
The story is on UW pitcher Nick Haughian. Haughian has an interesting story as a year ago he was on his way to becoming the team's ace when his father was diagnosed with bladder cancer and his season then fell off-stride. But this year, his father is again healthy and Haughian is dominating the Pac-10, leading the conference in strikeouts.
We also thought it was timely to highlight the baseball team in our pages this week as the Huskies have surprisingly surged into third in the conference --- they were picked last in the pre-season coaches poll --- and beginning today host Washington State in a three-game series critical to the post-season hopes of both teams.
And Washington is truly living up to its name this season as all 38 players on the roster played their high school ball in this state. Husky coach Ken Knutson told me this week he's not sure that's ever happened during his tenure --- he's been coach since 1993. The team is almost always made up of mostly in-state players. Knutson said the strength of baseball in the state, as well as the economics of college baseball, are helping to push it even more in that direction.
Unlike football and basketball, baseball does not offer full-ride scholarships, instead spreading 11.6 around the entire team. Since out-of-state tuition costs more than in-state (roughly $23,000 compared to $6,500) it's a bigger investment to give money to an out-of-state player. So if the Huskies can fill up their roster with in-state players, it helps the bottom line.
