Updates on Class of 2008
Posted by Bob Condotta
Many members of the incoming class of 2008 are finishing up their high school careers in spring sports. Here are a few updates:
--- Quarterback Dominique Blackman has been playing volleyball (a big sport in Southern California) though his season is now over as Carson High lost in a playoff earlier this week. Blackman is listed as having 22 kills and four blocks, which sounds like good hops for a guy listed at 6-5, 250.
--- Receiver Cody Bruns of Prosser has the top 400 time in the Mid-Columbia rankings complied by the Tri-City Herald (49.48). He also has an 11.43 100 and a 22.51 200.
--- WR Jordan Polk had the sixth-best 100 time in the state of Oregon as of April 30 at 10.88.
--- Johri Fogerson recently had a 6-foot high jump for O'Dea and has also been running the 100.
--- DL Alameda Ta'amu has the third-best shot put in the state at 55-7.
--- This actually doesn't involve a spring sport, but OL Mykenna Ikehara recently won a $1,000 scholarship for being an outstanding scholar-athlete.
--- Another football-related note as DT Craig Noble plans to play in the East-West All-Star game (a contest for players in the San Fernando and other outlying areas of Los Angeles) on June 15.
All for now.
